Public Workshops: 2 hours
Private Workshops: Customizable length
We recently finished another round of our public workshops. Check back in late September for our October series.
(Initial explanation: ID means image description.)
This workshop is about the rainbow alphabet: 2SLGBTQIA+ (2 Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic, Plus).
We discuss the spectrum of gender and sexuality, intersecting identities, current language, and ways you can be an ally. Time allows for a Q&A.
No prior experience or knowledge is necessary. Our workshops are a comfortable place where you can ask questions even if you don’t know how to frame or ask the questions or if you aren’t sure you know the right words. This is an environment of learning together.
The facilitator, Heather McCain, a disabled, neurodivergent, trans, queer, asexual person. They are an experienced public speaker and educator who engages people of all levels of learning. In addition to being the founder and Executive Director of Creating Accessible Neighbourhoods, Heather runs Chronically Queer, a support group for 2SLGBTQIA+ folk who live with chronic health conditions and is an organizer of Burnaby Pride.
Other facilitators include members of Chronically Queer.
