Access Clothing is a new line of clothing made by Sarah Harruthoonyan in Richmond. Sarah incorporates the individual needs of her clients into the clothes that she makes for them.
Sarah designs for people of all levels of mobility and is open to suggestions as she constantly learns more, and as she makes "Access Clothing" as accessible as possible for her customers. Sarah uses as many hidden features in design lines as possible so the designs look like regular clothes that anyone would buy, but has special hidden features that make dressing more accessible.
Some features in the designs are that the fabrics used are extra stretchy making it easier to pull the fabric onto the body. Another feature is that some of the pants offered have zippers all the way down the legs. The feedback from Sarah's customers is that this zipper feature is helpful when dressing. Many people get dressed lying down on a bed, with zip-away pants you can lay the clothes completely flat, then place yourself on top and zip up the sides, which is much easier than struggling to move from side to side in a chair or on a bed, and much easier than pulling pants up. It also makes access easier when dealing with bags or using the washroom. Another feature is that zipper pulls have a loop to pull on, which is useful for those with lower hand mobility. Also, if preferred, pants have hidden loops on the sides to help pull them up easier.
Access clothing also features pockets in accessible areas such as on the lap, or cargo style, or just below the knee. In some designs these are hidden features. The pant hems are longer since when sitting in a chair pant legs tend to ride up. The back of the pants are higher to avoid exposing the back or bum. Some of the shirts are longer in the back, as well, so that the back is covered completely.
These are just a few examples of features that Sarah uses. Sarah works with her individual clients to find out what works best for them.
Best of all "Access Clothing" is the first fashion label that provides it's customers with fashionable accessible clothing. Sarah's clothing line is stylish, reasonably priced, and very comfortable to wear.
